Glassing - What is it? - A simple explanation

Glassing is a term used to describe watching animals with binoculars or a spotting scope(through the glass).  As a hunter and especially as a guide it is critical to learn the travel patterns of the deer during each part of the season. Some are glassing elk or deer to stalk and hunt. Most of my time is spent glassing to learn patterns and find older mature bucks for hunters we are bringing in to hunt because the outfit I guide for only allows the hunting of large mature animals. It is typically early morning and late evening when deer movement peaks as deer are moving from feeding to bedding or vice versa.
